Common Bond Development Group is a commercial real estate development company located in Phoenix, Arizona that specializes in the identification, acquisition, development and management of retail and office properties across the southwest United States. Common Bond was formed in 2014 by Brian Frakes, previously of Westcor and Westcor Development Partners.
Since the company's formation, Common Bond has acquired and developed property across the state of Arizona and specializes in the greater Phoenix market. Several notable projects include The Yard at the Farmer Arts District (Tempe, AZ), a 57,000 square foot Sprouts-anchored shopping center called The Plant (Chandler, AZ) and a 120,000 square foot Safeway-anchored shopping center called Ironwood (Queen Creek, AZ).

Brian Frakes, Principal, formed Common Bond Development Company in 2014 to identify innovative real estate acquisition and development opportunities and deliver creative projects that provide lasting value for communities.
Brian Frakes began his development career at Westcor Partners in 1999 and in 2002 joined the Westcor senior partners to form WDP Partners. Frakes played an active role in the identification, acquisition, entitlement and management of more than eight million square feet of regional, neighborhood, specialty and power shopping centers in Arizona. Notable projects include “The Yard at the Farmer Arts District” a redevelopment of a 30,000 SF warehouse building for a mixed use restaurant and retail destination anchored by Fox Restaurant Concepts in Tempe, Arizona, a multi restaurant adaptive reuse development in Phoenix, Arizona, redevelopment of over 400,000 SF of office buildings, a 1M+ square foot regional shopping center in Yuma, Arizona and a major power center in Queen Creek, Arizona. In addition to the vertical development of these projects, Frakes identified and secured the site acquisition and entitlements for the Company’s major land holdings.
A native of Arizona, Frakes attended Brophy College Preparatory, graduated with a BS from the University of Arizona and is a Board Member of Valley Partnership, member of the Urban Land Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers, Pinal Partnership, and is active in philanthropic organizations - Jordan Sterling Foundation and The Thunderbirds. He currently resides in Phoenix with his wife, Christie, and their three young children.
Trevor Cohen began his professional career at Common Bond Development Group in 2014 following his graduation from the University of Arizona where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Eller College of Management.
Serving as Common Bond’s Development Manager, Trevor oversees all of the Company’s development projects. He manages the predevelopment, entitlement, leasing and construction and has helped develop over 300,000 SF to date. Trevor has played an integral role in helping the company grow in its first 5 years of business and will continue to do so as the Company segues into its next 5 years of growth.
Trevor is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of Arizona and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP). He enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as giving back to the greater Phoenix community through his membership in the Executive Council (EC70). Trevor is a lifelong Arizona resident and currently resides in Phoenix with his wife Allie and daughter Charleigh.
Lisa Goodwin is an Arizona native and has been active in the commercial real estate industry for over 20 years. Before joining Common Bond Development Group in 2015, Lisa worked for a developer in Phoenix, Arizona with a strong focus on development and management of retail properties. Her real estate expertise includes strong tenant relations, tenant improvement coordination, lease administration, budget preparation, and strong vendor coordination skills.
Lisa is a dedicated locavore and in her spare time, can be found exploring the beautiful forests of Northern Arizona in search of wild mushrooms. Lisa attended Arizona State University and is an Arizona licensed real estate agent, residing in Phoenix with her husband and son.
Alex Clark joined Common Bond Development Group in 2019 to help grow and execute the sales and brokerage business and create more opportunities for the company’s future growth. With over 25 years of experience, he provides a wealth of knowledge that we believe will benefit our valued clients.
Alex began his brokerage career at the Eisenberg Company in 1992 and took his valuable experience to the B.D. Baker Company in 2004. With B.D. Baker, he continued to grow his extensive knowledge in commercial real estate by working with clients such as Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets, Nationwide Vision, Brooklyn Bedding, Over Easy, Red Mountain Weight Loss, Fox Restaurant Concepts, and many more fantastic partners.
A Minnesota native, Alex attended Arizona State University and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance. Alex has always had a passion to serve others and has been a member of EC70, The Phoenix Thunderbirds, Thunderbird Charities Board, The Junior Golf Association of Arizona, and the American Junior Golf Association. He is equally passionate about his family; his wife Katie and three amazing kids – Tucker, Walker, and Campbell.
After a successful career working in collegiate athletics at her alma mater, Arizona State University, Breanna Mackie joined Common Bond Development Group in January 2020. Breanna earned her BA in Design Studies from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts in 2014.
As Common Bond’s Executive Assistant/Office Manager, Breanna provides multi-faceted support to the organization and our clients. Breanna is a sports enthusiast who can be found cheering on the Sun Devils in her spare time. She is a native of Southern California but loves the desert life, residing in Phoenix.
